CSSA Launches Social Inclusion Discussion Paper at Parliament House Canberra, 10 Feb 2010

In his speech to launch the CSSA discussion paper The Social Inclusion Agenda - Where it came from, what it means, and why it matters , CSSA Board member Bishop Pat Power said the paper shows us the way towards making Australia a more inclusive and accepting society where every person belongs with dignity.  The paper was launched at a Parliamentary Breakfast in Canberra, in which Fr Joe Caddy, Chair of the CSSA Board presented an opening address to a delegation of politicians and directors and senior staff from CSSA member organisations.

Catholic Social Services Australia 2010 Annual Awards and McCosker Oration

The 2010 Catholic Social Services Australia Awards were held in Canberra on Monday 8th February as part of the 2010 CSSA National Conference program. Award winners were chosen from an outstanding class of nominations.

The Awards ceremony commenced with the delivery of the 2010 McCosker Oration by Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO Professor of Law at the Australian Catholic University.

Human rights champion to advocate for Australia’s disadvantaged

In an unprecedented move, respected human rights advocate Father Frank Brennan has been appointed an official advocate for four of Australia’s leading health, social services, aged care and education bodies. As Catholic Advocate in Residence for Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA), the St Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Health Australia(CHA) and the Australian Catholic University’s Public Policy Institute (PPI), Fr Brennan will endeavour to raise awareness and drive change on the health and welfare of disadvantaged Australians.
